Barry Keoghan reveals cosmetic treatment

Actor Barry Keoghan has revealed that he is undergoing a non-invasive cosmetic treatment to improve his skin, months after speaking publicly about the impact of online abuse targeting his appearance.

The 34-year-old actor recently received XERF skin-tightening treatment, a procedure that uses radiofrequency technology to tighten skin and stimulate collagen production without needles.

In a video posted on October 23 by Nilam Holmes, owner of Dermaspa, Keoghan spoke positively about the treatment and praised Holmes for taking care of his skin. Footage showed him lying on a treatment bed while Holmes used a device on his cheeks, nose and jawline.

“I feel better about myself. I look better,” Keoghan said, adding that looking after oneself, both inside and out, is important.

Holmes said in the post’s caption that she had been working with the actor for some time, helping him maintain his skin through different films, campaigns and other projects.

She also revealed that the filmed session was his second XERF treatment.

According to Holmes, Keoghan’s skin had improved over the past few years, and she appreciated the trust he placed in her.

The treatment comes months after the actor spoke about the emotional toll of online criticism.

During a March appearance on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up, Keoghan said abusive comments about his looks had made him withdraw from public life and avoid attending events.

He also described how the criticism had affected his willingness to go outside, saying that the situation had become a problem.

Keoghan previously deactivated his Instagram account in 2024. He later explained that he had stepped away from social media but sometimes checked online reactions to his public appearances, which he found upsetting.

The actor is currently working on two major projects: The Batman: Part II and director Sam Mendes’ planned series of four Beatles biographical films. Keoghan is set to portray Beatles drummer Ringo Starr in the films.
