Could Deadpool join the X-Men? Ryan Reynolds is thinking about it

Ryan Reynolds is back behind the scenes, working on a potential new project involving his iconic antihero, Deadpool, but with a twist.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is developing early treatments for a film that would feature Deadpool teaming up with three or four members of the X-Men, shifting the spotlight from Wade Wilson to a more ensemble-driven narrative.

At this stage, the project is still in its concept phase and has yet to be formally pitched to Marvel Studios.

However, Reynolds, known for his hands-on approach to Deadpool’s cinematic journey, is independently writing the idea while simultaneously working on Boy Band, an upcoming Paramount comedy he plans to co-produce and star in.

The idea of stepping back from the spotlight isn’t just strategic, it’s philosophical.

Despite Deadpool & Wolverine raking in $1.33 billion globally, Reynolds has hinted that he doesn’t envision another solo Deadpool outing.

Instead, he’s interested in exploring team dynamics that broaden the character’s universe. “Fitting in would be Deadpool’s death,” Reynolds has said of the character’s arc.

While there’s no official word on which X-Men may appear, speculation among fans points toward familiar faces like Storm, Gambit, and Colossus.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is developing its own standalone X-Men film, with Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie attached.

Though nothing is greenlit yet, with Reynolds’ creative involvement and proven success with the franchise, it wouldn’t be surprising if this crossover concept eventually finds its place in Marvel’s expanding multiverse.
