Jim Carrey marries longtime girlfriend Min Ah

Hollywood star Jim Carrey has tied the knot with his longtime partner, Min Ah, in a private ceremony, People magazine has confirmed.

The marriage took place seven months after Carrey and Min Ah were seen together at France’s César Awards. During the event, Carrey publicly expressed his affection for her, referring to Min Ah as his “sublime companion”.

The 64-year-old actor delivered his acceptance speech entirely in French. While his daughter Jane, grandson Jackson and Min Ah received applause from the audience, Carrey thanked his family and said he loved them “now and forever”.

He also told Min Ah, “I love you,” before paying tribute to his late father, Percy Joseph Carrey. The actor credited his father with teaching him about “the value of love, generosity, and laughter”.

Carrey has largely avoided discussing his private life publicly. While promoting ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ in April 2022, he spoke about his preference for living a more peaceful life away from the spotlight.

“I really like my quiet life,” Carrey said, adding that he enjoyed painting and his spiritual life. He also said he felt he had “enough”.

Asked at the time if he was genuinely considering stepping back from acting, Carrey replied, “I’m being fairly serious.”

He explained that he could still take on a project if he came across a script that he considered especially meaningful, but said he was taking a break from acting.

Before his relationship with Min Ah, Carrey was romantically linked to his ‘Kidding’ co-star Ginger Gonzaga.

The two appeared together publicly for the first time at the Showtime Golden Globes Nominees Celebration in West Hollywood in January 2019. Carrey’s representative confirmed to People at the time that Gonzaga was his girlfriend.

Us Weekly reported in October 2019 that the couple had separated after dating for less than a year.

Carrey has been married twice before. He married ‘Dumb and Dumber’ co-star Lauren Holly in 1996, but the marriage ended in 1997. He was previously married to Melissa Womer from 1987 to 1995, and they have a daughter, Jane.
