Karachi child abuse content racket busted, 42 arrested, 12 children recovered

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has detained 42 people in a crackdown on an alleged animated pornography racket involving children in Karachi, with 13 suspects formally arrested and 12 children recovered.

The operation was conducted in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where the suspects allegedly produced animated pornographic content involving children and blackmailed customers, NCCIA Additional Director Tariq Nawaz said.

According to Nawaz, the raid was conducted two days ago at a location where the material was allegedly being produced. The suspects reportedly created social media accounts using fake female identities and uploaded pornographic clips to attract customers.

Some buyers purchased previously prepared clips, while others commissioned customised content according to their preferences, he said.

Nawaz alleged that the suspects blackmailed customers after supplying the material. Investigators are also tracing local and international buyers to identify others linked to the network.

Three companies allegedly involved

During proceedings before a judicial magistrate, District East, the NCCIA presented more than 10 suspects in a case involving the alleged production of objectionable videos featuring children and their sale to overseas clients.

The suspects, including Azhar, Anfal and Ansar, were arrested from Rabia City in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, the investigating officer told the court.

According to the officer, the suspects converted videos involving children into animated content and allegedly sold it to clients in the United States and Germany. They reportedly operated three companies under the names Arts Design, Pixel Craft and Art Office and contacted customers through social media platforms.

The investigating officer sought physical remand, telling the court that further investigation was required to arrest absconding suspects and trace other people involved in the network.

The judicial magistrate approved a four-day physical remand of all the suspects and handed them over to the NCCIA for interrogation.

Investigators are continuing to probe the alleged production and sale of the material, the suspected blackmailing of customers and the network’s local and international connections.
