PM Shehbaz directs PML-N to prepare for KP local government elections

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday directed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to accelerate preparations for local government elections and strengthen the party’s organisational activities across the province.

The directives were issued during a meeting of the PML-N’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliamentary party, chaired by the prime minister in Islamabad, where participants reviewed the province’s security and political situation.

According to sources, PM Shehbaz briefed party lawmakers on the reasons behind the proposed imposition of governor’s rule and the enforcement of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting held detailed discussions on the province’s security challenges and political developments. Participants also reviewed ways to make the party’s organisational activities more effective.

The prime minister instructed party office-bearers to give special attention to preparations for the upcoming local government elections and ensure that the party was fully mobilised for the electoral process.

The meeting also decided to step up PML-N’s political and organisational activities in the province.

The discussions come amid heightened political tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security concerns and disagreements between the federal government and the provincial political leadership have remained key issues.

The meeting focused on strengthening the party’s presence and improving coordination among its provincial leadership as it prepares for the local government polls.
