Probe into Sindh MDCAT results ordered amid complaints
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has taken notice of complaints about the conduct and results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 in Sindh and ordered an inquiry into allegations of irregularities.
The Ministry of Health said the Sindh government and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), in coordination with the university responsible for conducting the examination, would review complaints concerning the test.
Questions have been raised over the transparency and fairness of MDCAT 2026 in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.
The inquiry will examine examination-centre results, marks, percentages and pass rates, as well as attendance sheets, seating plans, centre records and data used to compile the results, according to the ministry.
Complaints involving alleged question-paper disclosure, unauthorised assistance, forgery, administrative negligence and technical problems will also be examined.
The ministry said responsibility would be determined if any technical failure or irregularity is found to have affected the examination.
The PMDC will provide all relevant records concerning the conduct of the examination and compilation of the results, it added.
The inquiry committee has been directed to submit its report to the Ministry of Health within 15 days.
Senate panel orders high-level investigation
The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services has separately taken notice of concerns raised by students and parents over the MDCAT process and results in Sindh, particularly Karachi.
Committee Chairman Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti has directed the Ministry of Health to form an empowered and independent inquiry committee in coordination with the PMDC and Sindh government.
The committee will conduct a comprehensive review of examination centres and the process through which the results were prepared.
The MDCAT was held in Sindh on September 20, with SIBA Testing Services conducting the examination. The results were announced on September 28. According to published results, no candidate from Karachi Division was among the top 20. The outcome prompted a backlash on social media and demands for an investigation.
Chishti questioned how no student from Karachi had secured a place among the top 20 and said the inquiry would determine whether any manipulation or malpractice had taken place.
He has also said that if the investigation establishes negligence or irregularities, the MDCAT will be reconducted in Sindh.
