While registering the case, complainant Faiqa Abbas said that her husband Abbas Ali works as an agent who gets people visas and sends them abroad. On March 4, he left home for Iftar in Saddar and then he did not return. Police authorities registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
Following leads, the Rawalpindi Police raided Swabi area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to recover the kidnapped person. They arrested one accused and safely recovered Abbas, while the other accomplices of the accused escaped. Sub-Inspector Haroon Hayat, who was part of the police team, was seriously injured in the shootout that occurred between the police and the abductors. The inspecotr was shifted to Rawalpindi after receiving first aid. The police also shifted the abductee and the accused to Rawalpindi. Raids are under way to arrest the absconding accused.
According to initial investigations, the abductee was involved in a money dispute with the accused, over which he was kidnapped and subjected to torture.
