Pakistan Army successfully tests extended-range Fatah-2

The Pakistan Army has successfully tested the extended-range version of its Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the missile is equipped with advanced navigation and avionics systems that enable it to strike targets with high precision.

The military said the missile’s distinctive flight path and ability to change direction during flight enhance its capability to overcome enemy missile defence systems.

The extended range is expected to further strengthen the Pakistan Army’s ability to engage targets at greater distances, including those located deep inside enemy territory, the ISPR said.

The test launch was witnessed by Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC) chief Lt Gen Nauman Zakaria, senior army officers, scientists and engineers.

The commander praised the scientists and engineers for their dedication and technical expertise in developing the system and ensuring the successful test, according to the military’s statement.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test of the extended-range version of the Fatah-2 missile, the ISPR said.
