Howard, 38, stated in her filings that she has been Aubri’s sole caregiver since her birth in October 2024. Edwards has requested a court hearing to determine his child support obligations. In Touch was the first to report the latest development.
In October 2024, Edwards filed a paternity suit, requesting a DNA test from a neutral, licensed lab after Howard named him as the child’s father in a September petition filed in Los Angeles. In March 2025, Howard formally requested sole custody, citing a December 2024 DNA test that confirmed Edwards’ paternity. She also asked for Edwards to be listed on Aubri’s birth certificate.
In court documents filed last year, Edwards stated that he was not seeking custody or visitation rights, saying the matter was “financial in nature.” He also succeeded in blocking Howard’s attempt to settle child support in California, moving the case to Georgia instead.
Howard’s legal team has stressed the urgency of establishing support, citing her unemployment and reliance on savings, family assistance, and any help provided by Edwards. She is also requesting reimbursement for pregnancy-related costs, expenses following the birth, and attorney’s fees. Howard shares another child with rapper Lil Baby.
Public interest in the case grew after Edwards’ current partner, Shannon Jackson—who shares a daughter with him—referenced the situation during an emotional Instagram Live in October 2024, expressing frustration with the attention and media scrutiny.
As of now, Edwards has not publicly commented on the finalized custody agreement.
