Hina Javed’s family seeks judicial commission, rejects police probe

The family of Hina Javed, who was found murdered in Rawalpindi, has demanded the constitution of a judicial commission to investigate the death, rejecting the findings of a police investigation committee.

The tortured body of Hina Javed, a digital media executive, was reportedly found in the washroom of her apartment in Rawalpindi in August 2026.

In an open letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the family urged the chief minister to review the case file, alleging that key evidence had been overlooked despite DNA belonging to Faisal Asghar and his father being found on Hina’s neck.

The family said forensic reports of Hina’s and the suspects’ mobile phones, along with fingerprint analysis, were still pending, but investigators had shifted their focus towards a domestic worker before the results were available.

It also alleged that important messages had been deleted from Hina’s phone.

According to the letter, Hina’s father-in-law initially reported a theft at the house.

The family maintained that the domestic worker was involved in the murder but accused investigators of ignoring evidence concerning Faisal Asghar.

The family said it had repeatedly tried to contact the chief minister and raised concerns about the investigation through various forums and government representatives, but had lost confidence in the police committee’s ability to deliver justice.

It urged Maryam Nawaz to ensure an impartial investigation, saying the committee should not determine anyone’s guilt or innocence before the case is decided by a court.

The letter called on the chief minister to ensure that no suspect was protected and that justice was delivered in accordance with the law.
