PTI chief calls for early, meaningful talks with government
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Tuesday called for early and meaningful negotiations with the government, claiming that political tensions and alleged political victimisation were continuing to escalate.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House in Islamabad, Gohar said dialogue was the only way to resolve political issues and urged the government to engage in constructive talks at the earliest.
He said political opponents were taking undue advantage of the situation following the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule, adding that the matter would be discussed at a parliamentary committee meeting.
He also called for an end to restrictions on meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan, describing the denial of access to his family as inhumane treatment.
The PTI chairman said allowing family members to meet Imran Khan could help improve the situation, while continued restrictions had complicated political matters.
