The controversy began when Fawad Chaudhry commented on Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s order directing states to ensure all Pakistani citizens depart India by April 27. Medical visa holders were given an extended deadline until April 29.
Reacting to the directive, Fawad Chaudhry asked on social media, “What about Adnan Sami?” In response, Adnan Sami, lashed out by calling Fawad Chaudhry an “illiterate idiot,” highlighting that he had secured Indian citizenship in 2016.
The exchange escalated when Fawad Chaudhry further said Adnan Sami was from Lahore. Correcting him, Sami tweeted, “My roots are from Peshawar, not Lahore!! To think that you were Minister of (Mis) Information and have no knowledge of any information… And you were Minister of Science?”
Adnan Sami, known for albums such as Kabhi To Nazar Milao, has previously stated it took him 18 years to obtain Indian citizenship .
Fawad Hussain previously served as Pakistan’s Minister of Information and Minister of Science and Technology under former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
