Nushki oil tanker blaze: death toll rises to 13

The death toll from the catastrophic oil tanker fire near Nushki’s main bus terminal has climbed to 13, with more than 50 individuals still receiving treatment in hospitals in Quetta and Karachi.

Medical officials report that at least a dozen of the injured remain in critical condition.

Twelve of the victims were laid to rest in various parts of Nushki while a driver was buried in the Panchpai area.

Among the deceased were two municipal committee employees who succumbed to severe burn injuries while undergoing treatment.

The injured are currently being treated at Quetta’s Burn Center, the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and Arya Hospital. Due to the extent of their injuries, 18 patients were airlifted to hospitals in Karachi where several continue to fight for their lives.

In the wake of the tragedy, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind expressed his condolences to the grieving families. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to providing the best possible medical care to those injured in the blast which has claimed numerous lives and left the community reeling.

The incident has sparked widespread concern over the safety protocols surrounding the transport of hazardous materials.

Authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the cause of the fire, with an aim to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
