Police granted three-day remand of suspect Muskan in alleged rape case

A court in Lahore on Thursday granted a three-day physical remand of Muskan, a suspect in the alleged rape of a foreign woman Diana and ordered that she be sent to jail.

Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood issued the written order, according to which the investigating officer had sought a 14-day physical remand of the suspect.

The court allowed police to interrogate Muskan in jail in the presence of a female police officer but ruled that she could not be kept in direct police custody.

According to the written order, police will investigate the alleged recovery of a mobile phone and suspected narcotics from the suspect while she is in jail.

The court ruled that police would have to obtain its permission before taking Muskan out of jail.
