Holy See Secretary Gallagher arrives in Pakistan on first-ever visit
Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations of the Holy See, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, arrived in Islamabad on Thursday on his first-ever visit to Pakistan by a Holy See Secretary, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan-Holy See relations.
He was received by Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Ayesha Ali, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
Archbishop Gallagher is visiting Pakistan from October 8 to 10. His visit also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Holy See.
During his visit, the archbishop will meet Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar to discuss matters of mutual interest, including interfaith harmony, dialogue and peace, as well as regional and international developments.
He is also expected to call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Archbishop Gallagher will also interact with members of the Catholic community in Pakistan during his stay.
The visit marks an important milestone in the longstanding relations between Pakistan and the Holy See and reflects the shared commitment of the two sides to strengthening mutual understanding, cooperation and trust, while promoting interfaith harmony, dialogue and peace.
