‘Political leader’ upset over being denied share in KP governor’s rule: Naqvi
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday said that the head of a political party is deeply upset at not getting a share in governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) or the provincial governorship.
Speaking informally to journalists in Lahore, Naqvi criticised the party without naming it or its leader. He alleged that the politician had relied on the establishment for decades. He further claimed that the leader used to arrange his party’s air tickets through the establishment.
The minister said such politicians were in no position to point fingers at others. He said political differences were acceptable, but discussion should be based on arguments and facts rather than impolite language and blame-shifting.
Former FATA
Naqvi also spoke about the resources and rights of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) districts. He said some political leaders had suddenly become concerned about the resources of these areas.
He asked why those leaders stayed silent for years when the districts were not receiving their rightful share. He questioned why they had not thought of raising their voice for the people of the former FATA at that time.
The interior minister said the rights and resources of the people of the former FATA should be above political interests.
Security situation
Turning to law and order in KP, Naqvi said the province was facing serious security challenges.
He urged political leaders to play their role in restoring peace and ending terrorism, instead of escalating tensions and spreading disorder.
He said KP needed peace, stability and joint efforts at this time, not political confrontation. He added that efforts to restore peace in the province should rise above political differences.
