Federal cabinet approves councils for 12 KP districts
The federal cabinet has approved the establishment of regional representative and development councils in 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The approval was granted through circulation of a summary submitted by the Cabinet Division, which subsequently conveyed the cabinet’s decision to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary.
The federal government has also formally notified the newly appointed council members.
The final list of 48 representatives for the councils across the 12 districts has been announced.
Their selection was carried out through mutual consultation among local jirgas, which were held in all 12 districts, with the assistance of deputy commissioners, to nominate respected council members favoured by the local population.
The names of members nominated through the jirgas were processed by the additional chief secretary or the administrator of the Area Development Secretariat.
