Imran Khan’s sister files fresh plea for urgent hearing of contempt case

Uzma Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has filed another application before the Supreme Court seeking an urgent hearing of her contempt of court petition, sources said on Thursday.

In the application, Uzma Khan said that Imran Khan’s health was deteriorating in jail and that his health and safety were matters of utmost importance.

She urged the Supreme Court to order the transfer of PTI’s founder from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for medical examination and treatment.

The application contends that Imran Khan was taken to PIMS hospital in violation of the Supreme Court’s August 18 order, arguing that the court’s directive had not been implemented in its true spirit.

Uzma Khan maintained that immediate and complete compliance with the Supreme Court’s order should be ensured, adding that continued failure to comply with judicial directives amounted to deliberate and clear disobedience of the law.

She further argued that the policy for fixing cases could not prevent an urgent hearing of the contempt petition.

The application noted that an earlier request for an urgent hearing had been rejected on August 25, while the registrar’s office had also turned down the first request for an immediate hearing.

Uzma Khan has now urged the Supreme Court to fix the contempt petition for an urgent hearing and take it up either this week or next week.
