In a heartwarming maternity photoshoot, the couple posed on a beach, with Alexa cradling her baby bump in a white-and-blue floral dress, complemented by an Olympic logo necklace. Chris, 37, kept it casual in a navy polo and khaki shorts.
The Knierims first teamed up as pairs skating partners in 2012, beginning a romantic relationship just a month later. Chris proposed in 2014, and they married in June 2016 in Colorado Springs, with their coach Dalilah Sappenfield officiating the ceremony.
As the first married pair to represent Team USA at the Olympics since 1998, the couple made history in 2018 as the only American pairs skaters competing in South Korea. They retired as partners in 2020 but won two U.S. national titles and served as Olympic alternates in Sochi 2014.
Alexa has been open about her health struggles, including a rare gastrointestinal illness that left her weighing just 80 pounds before their wedding. She underwent three surgeries, with Chris by her side throughout the ordeal.
“It was a hard year, but it made us grow in ways I don’t think we could have if we didn’t go through the traumatic experience,” Alexa said in a 2018 interview.
As they prepare to welcome their son, the Knierims continue to inspire fans with their resilience, love, and dedication—both on and off the ice.
