Members of the Child Safety Commission expressed deep concern over the disturbing incident.
“Such acts not only constitute violations of human rights but also highlight critical flaws within the judicial and correctional systems.”
The commission proposed a robust monitoring system that includes representatives from the judiciary, legal fraternity, human rights organisations, law enforcement agencies, civil society, and social welfare groups. They recommended that designated monitors conduct jail inspections every 15 days to identify and address any such incidents effectively.
The commission also suggested installation of a complaint box within the jail premises, enabling child prisoners to report abuses without fear of retaliation.
