Members of the National and Punjab Assemblies have praised the provincial government’s plan to build an international-standard bullet train between Rawalpindi and Lahore, calling it a landmark initiative for Punjab’s development.

For the first time in the country’s history, a bullet train project of international standards is being launched between Rawalpindi and Lahore, which parliamentarians believe will mark a major milestone in Punjab’s progress.

Speaking on the matter, members of the National Assembly, Provincial Assembly, and Senate emphasised that the development of Punjab is integral to the development of Pakistan.

They highlighted that it was former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision to initiate a bullet train project in the country. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi have reportedly completed the necessary groundwork to ensure the project’s success.

Parliamentarians confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will soon lay the foundation stone for the project, which they described as the beginning of a new era of growth and prosperity.

Former Senator Chaudhry Tanveer Khan stated that whenever the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) comes to power, the country sets on a path of rapid development. In an interview with Express News, he remarked that the world is moving towards modernization, and Pakistan must keep pace.

PML-N Member of the National Assembly Nuzhat Sadiq credited Maryam Nawaz for transforming Punjab into a developed province. Senator Nasir Mehmood Butt noted that modern transportation systems are critical to a nation’s progress, and the bullet train project stands as a shining example.

Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, MNA, highlighted that the bullet train will not only save time but also provide the public with a high-quality transport facility. Similarly, Provincial Assembly member Malik Iftikhar said that the bullet train from Rawalpindi to Lahore would significantly change the lives of the people.

Senior PML-N leader Haji Parvez added that the completion of the bullet train project would result in considerable savings of both fuel and time.
